What Lies Under — AI Short Film
This is a short AI film I made in under 4 hours. It was for a competition where we had to make something in 48 hours. Work and life got in the way, so I had less than 4 hours.

I wrote this “super prompt” that gets GPT (or Claude/Llama/Gemini) to help me craft a good prompt based on my idea. It considers things like lighting conditions, weather, environment, colour palette, hues, mood, tone, visual theme, artistic style, etc. – all based on a figment of your idea.
QR codes have gone from ugly ducklings to beautiful swans, all thanks to the power of AI. Long criticised for their unappealing look, QR codes are now in the midst of a major comeback, invigorated by the creativity that AI allows. No longer do you need to be a tech whiz to customise your QR codes. With AI, you can easily merge images or even abstract ideas with your QR codes, offering a blend of functionality and aesthetics like never before. In this post, I share some QR codes I’ve jazzed up with AI and guide you through the process of creating your own.
Animating with AI might sound like a walk in the park, but the reality is it takes a lot of trial and error to consistently get good results. Contrary to what many anti-AI folks think, there isn’t a single magic button that instantly produces amazing art. Deforum is a handy tool in Stable Diffusion that lets you set prompts at different points in the timeline and control a ‘camera’ in 2D or 3D space. The user interface for controlling these isn’t the most intuitive, but after some messing around, I reckon I’ve got the hang of it — and I did some experiments.
I’ve done a ton of banner ads in my career. I have been using chatGPT (and GPT-4) to play around with a few coding projects. So, I thought why not test if it can build an animated banner ad. How cool would that be?
How I used AI to recreate a realistic photo of Saradiel, a folklore hero in Sri Lanka, using Stable Diffusion and the ControlNet extension. Although the results were not perfect, they are impressive considering the blurry nature of the original image.
AI art has become increasingly popular, with tools like Midjourney allowing users to create photorealistic images, graphic designs, and more. Despite some quirks, these AI-generated works can be a great source of inspiration for designers. Also, see some images I’ve generated!
